Policies and Procedures

Transcript Request

The Paralegal Institute can provide students with the necessary forms to request transcripts from institutions where you have received prior education. Please contact us and ask for a transcript request form.

In the event that you attended more than one high school it is only necessary to request an official transcript from the school in which you graduated. Alternatively, a copy of your GED results/certificate may be submitted in lieu of a high school transcript.

Degree program students are strongly encouraged to request their college or university transcripts of any previously completed coursework. The Director of Education will review the transcript for potential credit transfer and notify the student in writing of the decision to transfer credit. Students must have completed eligible coursework with a "C" or higher.

An official transcript is a transcript that has been stamped with the school Registrar's seal and/or signature and sent directly from the school to The Paralegal Institute. Fees for transcripts vary; please check with sending institution to determine the correct amount due. The Paralegal Institute cannot request transcripts on behalf of the student.

Change of Address

Due to the nature of The Paralegal Institute's distance learning studies, it is critical that we have current address and telephone information on file at all times. This will ensure that course materials and other correspondence are delivered promptly. Please request any changes in writing and include your name and student number on all correspondence to ensure accurate corrections.

Leave of Absence

During the term of enrollment a student may request a cumulative six-month leave of absence also referred to as a "hold" in cases of medical emergency or personal crisis. To do so, submit a letter to the Director of Operations stating the nature of your illness or crisis and the amount of time needed. In addition, may request, in writing, temporary suspension of all financial obligations during a leave of absence.

Be sure to schedule your time wisely.
